I attended a webinar today on Pickleball through SPARK PE and their website. They offer many free webinars on different subjects in Physical Education which was unknown to me. I was very surprised to find how many webinars there are for Physical Education. In my mind, Physical Education was a hard subject to teach over a webinar because of the physical nature of the class. The webinar went over the rules of the game and how it was a good bridge between a badminton and tennis unit. A brief history was also discussed and how the game came to be in existence. The webinar also went over a method of teaching that I learned while at CCSU for my undergrad. The tactical games method gives students who are not playing at any particular time jobs to complete as they wait for their time on the court. The approach also sets up the class in a game-skill-game order so students are bookending skill development with gameplay.

  1. Thanks for sharing about these Webinars! My good friend at work is the P.E. teacher and my brother is one as well. I imagine that they have Webinars for multiple grade levels since one teachers elementary and the other teaches high school.

  2. If you're interested in checking out some crazy pickleball, Ledyard High School holds a tournament every year for the entire community and I believe it's a fundraiser...people are crazy about it here and I can understand why-super cool sport!
